The Abuse Prevention of Older Adults Network (APOAN) in partnership with Elder Abuse Ontario invite seniors, caregivers, and community health care agencies to attend a special educational event to learn about legal issues and how to protect the rights and dignity of seniors in our community.

This month the networks will host a free event titled `Understanding Legal Issues As We Age`. The event will be held on Wed., Oct. 22, from 9:30 am to noon at the McDonnel Street Activity Centre (577 McDonnel St. Peterborough).

Keynote speaker Heather Mountford, lawyer, Goddard Gamage Stephens LLP, will clarify questions and myths regarding Powers of Attorney, and provide an overview of legal issues that seniors may encounter related to the preparation of Powers of Attorney, substitute decision making, and Power of Attorney litigation.
