Recorded on February 8, 2016 - While you may not find a salesperson knocking at your door with the latest and greatest vacuum cleaner anymore, the sometimes unsavoury world of door-to-door sales is still alive and well. Some of the most outrageous claims and trickery in the door-to-door world now relate to water heater sales. Problems with door-to-door water heaters sales and rentals have become such a big problem that Ontario now has special protections just for them. In this webinar we look at common sales tactics, unfair business practices, and a consumer's rights with regard to door-to-door sales, including the requirements for valid contracts, required disclosures, and the cancellation rights that are unique to water heaters. Finally, we learn about the important protections that the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002, contains for consumers in these situations and how to exercise those rights.
