Private Career Colleges Act
Recorded on January 17, 2011 (62 minutes) - This webinar is for service providers. It is presented by Margaret Capes, Legal Education Coordinator of Community Law School (Sarnia-Lambton) Inc. Many Ontarians are returning to private career colleges to upgrade their skills in a demanding job market. Also, new immigrants are often attracted to Ontario with the promise of a solid education through these schools. While there are many well-regarded private colleges, a small number do not meet the educational requirements set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The Private Career Colleges Act has been strengthened to provide students with more rights to written contracts, cooling off periods, proper instruction/facilities, and a complaint procedure. It allows for refunds when these rights are violated. This webinar looks at the many ways students and their advocates can protect themselves under the recently revised Private Career Colleges Act.
