A message from Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO): The government of Ontario is taking necessary steps to protect the rights of tenants and to tackle the affordable housing crisis in our province. Bill 124, the Rental Fairness Act, addresses issues that are central to ensuring tenants' right to safe, adequate and affordable housing.

We know there is much more to be done to help tenants in our province find and keep the housing they need. But this legislation is an important move in the direction of justice for hundreds of thousands of tenants in Ontario.

We applaud the government for introducing this Bill. We have communicated our support at the General Committee hearings last week. You can find the full text of our deputation by clicking here.

But not everyone is pleased. Landlords and property developers are trying to persuade the Government into backing down from making these important changes.

We need your support to make sure the Government keeps its promise to tenants and makes rental housing fairer and more affordable for all Ontarians.

Tell the government to do the right thing and pass Bill 124, without amendments that weaken its provisions. Click below to send an email to Premier Kathleen Wynne in support of Bill 124.
