Information from METRAC: Sexual assault and the way complainants experience the criminal justice system have been in the spotlight. Survivors of sexual assault have many valid concerns about going to the police, laying a criminal charge against their attacker, preparing for court and going through the court process. But this is not the only legal option for making a complaint about sexual violence in Canada.

METRAC is presenting a legal information training to discuss other ways of making a complaint and getting a legal response to sexual assault or harassment.

The discussion will include the pros and cons of different kinds of complaints and legal processes, how they compare to going to the criminal courts, as well as some practical tips for women to consider when using the legal system to respond to sexual violence.
