Information from The Lighthouse: The Lighthouse is putting together a family camp for Spanish-speaking immigrant, non-status and refugee families. Immigrant and refugee families often experience migration stress, difficult adjustment, poverty, barriers to public services, and sometimes violence. This causes a negative impact on mental health and family cohesion. For this reason, we want to support and empower families by providing tools to strengthen relationships. In order to accomplish our goals, we will provide information sessions for mothers, art therapy, and play as therapy for both moms and children.

This is a 5 day camp that runs from August 13 -17. During this camp week, mothers and their children (4-13 years old) meet at 9:30-3:30 every day at The Lighthouse (1008 Bathurst Street) where we hold our program. We provide breakfast every day and lunch for three days. There is plenty of recreation, outings, as well as group work every day. The program is FREE and people need to register soon for the space is very limited. In previous years we had a waiting list and some families that would have benefitted were not able to participate because they waited until last minute. This family camp is very therapeutic and we hope you can refer some clients to our program.
