April 12: SALCO Forum on Bill C-31, the Immigration Bill
On February 16th, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney tabled Bill C-31 - an immigration omnibus bill now widely condemned as the Refugee Exclusion Act. An amalgamation of some of the most cruel elements of previous bills, C-31 is a drastic and draconian attack on immigrants that introduces measures that jail refugees, establishes an unjust two-tier asylum system, and ends Permanent Residence in Canada as we know it.
We cannot let this happen.
Join No One Is Illegal - Toronto and The South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario for a panel discussion about Bill C-31 and be part of the growing tide of resistance to stop Bill C-31 from becoming law.
Speakers: Audrey Macklin (Faculty of Law, UofT), Gina Csanyi-Robah (Roma Community Centre) and Karin Baqi (South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario).
