CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario/Éducation juridique communautaire Ontario) has launched a new monthly email alert called On the Radar. The first edition was issued today, December 6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This edition looks at the particularly vulnerable situation faced by newcomer women who are being abused by their sponsors and discusses a federal government proposal to introduce a period of "Conditional Permanent Residence," which may increase the risk that some newcomer women will stay in abusive relationships.
