Letter: No conflict of interest
From a Toronto Star letter to the editor:
Carol Goar is correct when she notes that the Ministry of Health's decision to divest the psychiatric patient advocacy program was made without consulting stakeholders. But she is incorrect in asserting that the Canadian Mental Health Association has a conflict of interest. The CMHA provincial office, which is in discussions with the ministry to receive the program, does not operate outpatient or community programs. CMHA local branches do but they are not managed by CMHA Ontario. CMHA Ontario's main mission is advocacy, which is likely why it was chosen.
