Law Commission of Ontario seeks input from businesses and employers on vulnerable workers
From a Law Commission of Ontario news release:
The Law Commission of Ontario (LCO) seeks input from all interested parties, including employers and the business community, on Background and Consultation Papers released on February 17, 2011 in its project on Vulnerable Workers and Precarious Work.
Among other things, this project examines the rise in part-time and temporary work, increased reliance on (in)dependent contractors and other forms of "precarious" jobs in Ontario, as well as the degree of legal protection afforded to workers in these positions and the impact of these jobs on their daily lives. Studies have shown that women, members of racialized communities, newcomers to Canada, temporary migrant workers and non-status workers disproportionately engage in precarious work.
