Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) takes effect January 31, 2007

The following information is taken from a press release from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing announced today that Ontario's new landlord and tenant legislation will take effect January 31, 2007. This legislation will affect approximately 1.35 million renter households in Ontario, representing 32 per cent of Ontario’s population.

Information about the act, the Landlord and Tenant Board and service fee reductions will be available at all Service Ontario outlets, Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal Offices, Publications Ontario and online at www.mah.gov.on.ca by clicking on Residential Tenancies.
