National Secretariat on Homelessness

The National Secretariat on Homelessness would like to hear from initiatives making a difference in the fight against homelessness.

In 2002-2003, the National Secretariat on Homelessness (NSH) carried out a Promising Approaches Project (PAP) to collect information on effective local practices in the area of transitional and supportive housing. Phase II of the project is now being carried out.

Three screening criteria will be used to guide the nomination process (effectiveness, relevance and replicability) in addition to a number of selection criteria (geography, urban/rural setting, number/type of partners, level of partnership commitment, etc.), allowing PAP to ensure an adequate community representation with the final selections made by the Steering Committee.

If your initiative is chosen as a Promising Approach, not only will it receive public recognition, it will also be posted on the NHI Web site and shared with communities and organizations across Canada.
