I have been the victim of an assault. Can I apply to the government for compensation?
The following answer is taken from Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, produced by Community Advocacy & Legal Centre.
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB) is a program funded by the Ontario government to provide compensation to survivors of violent crime. To qualify, you must be a victim of a violent crime committed in Ontario.
A person can apply for CICB if they have suffered physical, mental, emotional, or psychological injuries as a result of a crime of violence, such as assault, sexual assault, criminal harassment, child abuse, or domestic violence.
